Gemma “Gem” Nazareno-Edquilang was 4 years old when she immigrated to the United States to join her family.  Gem is the fifth child of seven, born to Tolentino and Magdalena Nazareno. Gem grew up in the Kalihi Valley, Honolulu, Hawaii. She graduated from Farrington High School in 1988 and left Hawaii that same year to live in Northern California. Gem lived in San Jose, CA for 13 years before moving to Las Vegas, NV. 


In the summer of 2001, Gem followed her brother and his family from San Jose to Henderson, Nevada. The following year, Gem’s brother introduced her to her future husband, Roxas Edquilang.  Gem and Roxas have two boys who keep the family busy with school events, youth ministry, and football and basketball games and tournaments. Gem has been a resident of Clark County for over 18 years.   



Education/ work experience

  • Associate of Arts degree in Social Science from San Jose City College.
  • Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from San Jose State University (SJSU). 
  • During college, worked full-time with top secret clearance as a Document Control Processor at Lockheed then as a Career Resource Coordinator at SJSU.  
  • Juris Doctorate degree from Santa Clara University School of Law (1996 – 1999)
  • Attorney licensed with the State Bar of California since 2000.
  • Attorney licensed with the State Bar of Nevada since 2001.  

Community Connections and Involvement

  • Alongside a few other parents/coaches, created and managed a non-profit youth football team for three years. The team’s mission was to provide positive growth through sports for the youth in our communities by teaching the importance of fitness, teamwork, leadership, and good sportsmanship. 
  • Served at her children’s school(s) on the Parent Teacher Association/ Organization’s Board as Secretary and Treasurer; volunteered in the classroom and field trips. 
  • Serves her faith ministry, Missionary Families of Christ, as Youth Parent Coordinator since 2012. For several years to present, volunteers at NASCAR to help fundraise for youths in their community. 
  • Licensed as Higher Level of Care Foster Parent.  

legal career

  • In California, Gem was an  Associate Attorney to a couple of small firms in San Jose, handling cases in the areas of Wills and Trust litigation, Family Law, Immigration, and Personal Injury. 
  • When she arrived in Las Vegas, Gem first worked in the  complex litigation field of Construction Defect. 
  • In 2004, Gem opened her own firm, and managed a variety of cases in personal injury, family law, immigration, estate planning, probate, and general civil litigation.
  • Gem briefly served as a Public Attorney at the Las Vegas Municipal Courts, and also as a Pro Tempore Judge for the Las Vegas Justice Courts. 
  • From 2013-2017, Gem was a managing partner at Ventimiglia & Nazareno LLC where she assisted with client's claims for medical malpractice/ negligence,  did insurance defense for automobile accidents, helped clients with divorces and custody issues, and managed other cases relating to immigration, estate planning, probate and other general civil litigation matters.
  •  From 2018 to present, Gem returned to her solo practice in family law, general civil litigation, personal injury, estate planning, probate, and immigration.  
  • Gem is a volunteer CAP (Children’s Attorney Project) attorney.  
  • She has worked as a Pro Bono Attorney and has volunteered at the Ask-A-Lawyer Program at Family Court.
